The magical atmosphere of Newberry Library makes these unique, intimate concerts all the more enjoyable. This summer, enjoy 65 minutes of the greatest works in classical music from Vivaldi to Mozart to Bach.

The Newberry Library

Founded in 1887, The Newberry Library is a world-renowned independent research library that “builds, preserves, and makes accessible an extensive collection of rare books, maps, music, manuscripts, and other material spanning more than six centuries.” Its stunning Victorian architecture make it a breathtaking venue for weddings, private events, and concerts like Candlelight!

You don’t need to know a lot about classical music to attend; both Newberry Library and Candlelight value fostering a learning environment, so you’re bound to learn something new about classical music every night.

Candlelight

These evening concerts make the perfect date night to calm your mind and indulge your senses. The glow of candlelight against the historic Chicago architecture of the Newberry Library creates a cozy environment perfect for these intimate, small seating concerts featuring music from Vivaldi, Beethoven, Schubert and more. Musicians have also been known to throw in a little Beatles every now and then, too!

No concert is the same with performances from Chicago’s best string quartets, solo pianists, and more. Each night features two back-to-back 65 minute performances, so you can catch either an early or late show depending on your preference.

Listening to classical music by candlelight in a beautiful setting sounds like the peaceful haven we all need.

Calm your mind and experience classical music in a new light with these sensational concerts in some of Washington DC’s most magical locations. This concert series known simply as “Candlelight”invites everyone to relive the greatest works of classical music, from Vivaldi to Mozart to Bach, in an intimate atmosphere.

And after having enormous success around the world—in cities like Paris, Barcelona, and New York—the experience is finally making its way to DC! Buy tickets for DC Candlelight concerts here.

The first concerts will feature Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, Beethoven’s Best Works, and Chopin’s Best Works, all played by the most talented classical musicians. With countless flickering candles illuminating each unique space, the DC Candlelight concerts will present a collection of classical music over the course of 65 mesmerizing minutes.

The Candlelight series takes place twice each night with two back to back 60-65 minute performances. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to each show.

The exquisite location chosen for the experience is St. Francis Hall, a stunning venue adjacent to Brookland’s Franciscan Monastery. Featuring soaring ceilings, arched windows and open wooden beams, at this romantic hall, you’ll feel like you’ve been whisked away to an oasis of tranquility set against the gorgeous backdrop of the monastery.
