Winamp Icon Packs are a collection of icon libraries that contain a set of predefined icons. This icons are displayed for files with extension that describes file types associated with Winamp. Winamp Icon Libraries looks nice especially in modern Windows operating systems where it is possible to display icons with very big size (256x256px, depends on Windows File Explorer settings).

Icon Pack installer will automatically install the selected icon libraries and configure the system to use chosen icon library as default. You can always change default icon library via the Winamp or WACUP preferences.

I have prepared several icon packs so far. Each of them contains a lot of different icon libraries, which differ in pattern, color or theme. You can download them using the download section of Winamp icon packs or learn more about each of them by clicking the links below.

To use Winamp Icon Pack, you must have installed Winamp 5.58 (or higher) with the 'Jump to File Extra' plugin (JTFE) or WACUP (which supports Icon Pack functionality out of the box without needing for JTFE plugin).

To change the default icon library in Winamp, open Winamp preferences (Ctrl + P), navigate to the 'Jump to File' > 'Extras' page and select the 'Enable 'File Types' preferences page additions' option. To change or select default Winamp Icon Library use dropdown list that contains all installed icon libraries.

Additionally you have to move the 'File Type Icon' & 'Playlist Icon' sliders to bottom. These options can be found on the 'File Types' preference page. On the same preference page you can preview the available custom icons from current icon library shown for files associated with Winamp. You can open any folder in Windows containing Winamp-associated filetypes and see the icon(s) change in real-time.

Changing the default icon library in WACUP looks quite similar.

To change the default icon library in WACUP, open the WACUP preferences (Ctrl + P), navigate to 'File Types' > 'Associated File(s)' preference page and use dropdown list to choose the desired icon library used to represent the file(s) associated with WACUP from the defaults. You can also find here all other options that allows you to associate WACUP as the default file handler within Windows operating system.

WINAMP FOR WINDOWS

In January 2014, Radionomy (the company provides everyone from artist and celebrities to professional broadcasters and music lovers with the tools and infrastructure to create, broadcast, promote and monetize their own online radio stations completely free of charge) announced that it has acquired Winamp and SHOUTcast. This acquisition allowed them to reach a much larger audience and offer new experiences for users. Unfortunately, in practice it also meant the end of active development of the Winamp player on all supported platforms.

Winamp 5.6.6.3516

The last stable version of Winamp (by Nullsoft/AOL) was released on December 12, 2013 and was marked as 5.6.6.3516. This is the best and most refined version that has been created. Winamp's official distribution includes my language pack, which has the status of an official Polish language pack.

It should be noted that as a result of the change of Winamp ownership, some components have stopped working and some have been malfunctioning. These problems have been solved by issuing patched installers, which you can download below.

So you can download official (patched) Winamp Full and Lite (lightweight mp3 / CD player) installers in English (en-US) and the multilingual Winamp Full installer (with a built-in Polish language pack). You can also download the official (unpatched) Winamp Full and Lite installers in Polish version (pl-PL). These installers are unfortunately not patched and therefore it is also recommended to download and install the security patches of the gen_jumpex and in_mp3 plugins.

POLISH LANGUAGE PACK FOR WINAMP 5.6.6.3516

Polish language pack is the official Polish translation of Winamp, which I have prepared in consultation with Nullsoft, Inc. (AOL). Winamp language pack is the translation of the entire Winamp interface, which includes the translation of all plugins and skins distributed with Winamp. This language pack is an extended version of the official Polish language pack, which also contains a translation of other plugins that extend Winamp's functionality, which I found to be remarkable. It also includes Polish version of Winamp Classic Skin and a special plug-in that provides access to unofficial Winamp help web page in Polish language.

WACUP (WinAmp Community Update Project)

WACUP (WinAmp Community Update Project) is an independent project with the aim to provide new features and bug fixes for the mighty Winamp player from those who care about keeping Winamp alive and whippin' with the goal to eventually become its own highly Winamp compatible media player.

WACUP consists of new plug-ins to add additional features to the last AOL provided Winamp release (5.666 Build 3516) as well as making use of the benefits of Winamp being heavily based on a plug-in system to allow replacements to be created which provide better implementations over the plug-ins natively included with Winamp. By including and updating other 3rd party skins and plug-ins for Winamp, WACUP should be able to provide something for most users who care about Winamp and want to keep using it for the years to come.

WACUP project is being actively developed. However, it is still beta software. If you want, you can help create and develop WACUP by becoming a beta tester. You can also support the project financially or in any other way (tests, promotion, etc.).

You can now download the preview version that shows the current progress of the project. It is published publicly at monthly intervals.

Winamp 5.8.0.3660 (Beta)

The latest public version of Winamp was released on October 19, 2018. This is the development version (BETA)! The goal is to create a completely free edition, which requires removal or replacement of the licensed code. It is recommended to use the 'custom' install option instead of 'standard'. Custom install lets you choose components, like before, whereas standard defaults to 'all' on clean installs, or 'previous' on upgrades.

Notes: Some features are works-in-progress, e.g. new in_mod and out_wasapi plugins. Sorry, no CD burning, autotag or cddb features yet. No multinational version with lang packs yet either (however you can still use langpacks).
