Tap the group text message that you want to leave. Tap the group icons at the top of the thread. Tap the info button, scroll down, then tap Leave this Conversation. You can leave a group text message as long as there are three other people on the thread and everyone is using an Apple device, like an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Group Texting is an older way of messaging a group of people. Group texts can get a little spammy, and you end up wanting to opt-out of the group. - Select and open the group text you want to quit
- Click the top part on the group page where members’ names are displayed or showing the group name
- Tap the info button, which will show the page details
- On the page details, scroll down and click on the “Leave This Conversation” option to quit the group text
If you do not see the need to take yourself off a group text and you do not want to be troubled by its frequent notifications, you can select the “Mute” option.

If you want to opt-out of group text on an Android phone, you should know that it is impossible to leave the group entirely. You will not come across a “Leave This Conversion” option on Android phones, but you can choose to mute the conversion on the group. Trying to delete the group text will only make it disappear until someone sends a message to the group, and then it reappears.
How to leave a chat group on Facebook
If you have Facebook Messenger App on your phone, and you want to exit a group text that you feel is not important anymore, here is what to do:
- Open the group and tap the top part of the chat where names of members are shown
- Select the page setting and scroll down to find the “Leave Chat” option
- Choose the option to quit the group text
You can select the “Ignore Messages” button if you want to stay in the group but do not want to get any text alerts.
Quitting a group text on WhatsApp
If you are conversant with the procedure of leaving a group text on Facebook Messenger; you will not have a problem with exiting a WhatsApp group text because the procedures are almost identical. Click the group title, and then scroll down to find the “Exit group” option. Select it to remove yourself from the group.

Add or remove someone from a group conversation
Anyone in a group iMessage can add or remove someone from the conversation. You can remove a person from a group iMessage that has at least three other people. You can’t add or remove people from group MMS messages or group SMS messages.

- Tap the group conversation you want to add someone to.
- Tap , then tap Add Contact.
- Enter the contact information for the person you want to add. Then tap Done.
